Copyright Policy
How to report content you believe infringes your copyright, and how to respond if your content was removed.
The Reptile Club respects the intellectual property rights of others, and we expect the people who use our service to do the same. Most photos in The Reptile Club Registry are uploaded by the keepers who register their animals.
Reporting a copyright concern
If you believe a photo or other material in the Registry infringes a copyright you own, you can send a notice to our designated agent under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
Designated Copyright Agent
The Reptile Club LLC

What your notice must include
For us to act on your notice, federal law requires it to contain all of the following. An incomplete notice may not be valid.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say was infringed.
- Identification of the material you believe is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it. A direct link, for example the reptileclub.com address of the certificate page, is the most reliable.
- Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
Please send the complete notice to dmca@reptileclub.com. Sending it to any other address may delay our response.
What happens after we receive a valid notice
When we receive a notice that meets the requirements above, we will remove or disable access to the material within a reasonable time, and we will make a good faith effort to notify the person who posted it. That person may respond with a counter-notification.
Filing a counter-notification
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notification to the same agent above. To be effective, it must include all of the following.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before it was removed.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, mailing address, and telephone number.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located, or if your address is outside the United States, the judicial district in which The Reptile Club LLC may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice or their agent.
If we receive a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the person who filed the original notice. We may restore the removed material in 10 to 14 business days unless that person notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking to keep the material down.
Repeat infringers
We will, in appropriate circumstances, disable or terminate the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe the copyrights of others. Because registrations in The Reptile Club Registry are a permanent public record, terminating an account does not by itself remove registrations already made, but infringing photos will be removed from those records. See our Terms of Service for details.
A note on false claims
Federal law provides penalties for knowingly making a material misrepresentation in either a takedown notice or a counter-notification. If you are not sure whether material infringes your copyright, or whether it was removed by mistake, you may want to consult a lawyer before filing.
