Terms

Terms of use for The Reptile Club and HatchLog. Last updated: 9 July 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the HatchLog mobile application and the website at reptileclub.com (together, the “Service”), operated by The Reptile Club LLC (“we”, “our”, or “us”), a limited liability company organized in Utah, United States. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account, including activity by people you authorize to use the same account on your behalf.

2. The service

HatchLog is a record-keeping tool for reptile breeders and keepers. The Reptile Club operates the public Registry, Certificates of Pedigree, breeder records, Standards, and related public resources. Use of the Service is at your own discretion and risk. The Service is provided “as is.”

3. Free plan and HatchLog Pro

The HatchLog app may offer a free plan and one or more paid plans (“HatchLog Pro”). The free plan permits local record-keeping for a user’s working collection. We do not require HatchLog Pro to continue managing locally stored HatchLog collection records. HatchLog Pro adds hosted features such as automatic cloud backup and instant cross-device sync. Pro may support multiple authorized people working on different devices while signed into the same account. Pricing, paid plan limits, hosted features, and Registry-credit offers are described inside the app and may change with notice. Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled before the end of the current billing period. You can cancel at any time. Subscriptions bought in the app are canceled in your App Store or Google Play settings, and subscriptions bought on reptileclub.com are managed and canceled through the customer portal linked from your receipt.

Purchases made inside the HatchLog app are processed by Apple or Google, and refunds for those purchases are handled under that platform’s policies. Purchases made on reptileclub.com are sold through Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, which processes payment and collects any applicable tax. Refunds for web purchases are handled under our Refund Policy. Registry credits are a consumable digital good. A credit may be held while a registration is reviewed and is spent when a registration is approved. Because an approved registration becomes a permanent public record, a spent credit cannot be returned or refunded by us. Unused credits have no cash value and are not transferable between accounts.

4. The Reptile Club and pedigree certificates

Registering an animal requires one Registry credit. HatchLog Pro is not required to register an animal, and Pro does not include recurring Registry credits. Additional credits may be purchased in packs, in the app or on reptileclub.com. A user’s first annual Pro subscription currently grants a one-time Registry-credit welcome bonus. When a registration is approved, The Reptile Club issues a Certificate of Pedigree with a unique RC code. Once issued, the registration is recorded in The Reptile Club and is part of the public record of the Registry.

Independence. Pedigree records are maintained by the Registry, not by individual breeders. After issuance, the species, registration code, hatch date, and producer are locked. Sire and dam slots follow a fill-once rule: a slot still empty may be filled in later, but a filled parent slot cannot be replaced through ordinary editing.

Permanence. Registrations are retained on the public Registry for the operating life of the Registry, subject to applicable law. Deleting your account does not remove registrations you have issued from the public Registry. It only severs them from your personal account.

Our archival purpose and the limits on removal are set out at reptileclub.com/permanence.

Verifiability. Anyone may look up a registration at reptileclub.com using its RC code, and no account is required to do so. Breeders whose breeder page is public may also be found in the breeder directory at reptileclub.com/breeders without an RC code.

Transferability. The keeper of record on a registered animal may change. The producer of record and the lineage do not.

Transfers are between keepers. When ownership of a registered animal changes, The Reptile Club records the change in the Registry. We are not a party to the transfer and we do not facilitate the sale of animals. Any payment, shipping, health guarantee, or other arrangement is solely between the keepers involved. We do not process payment for animals, hold funds in escrow, or act as the seller or merchant of record. We make no representation about an animal's health, traits, temperament, or legality, or about any keeper's conduct, and we are not responsible for any loss, dispute, or claim arising from a transfer. You are responsible for complying with all laws that apply to acquiring, keeping, selling, or shipping an animal.

Genuine errors of fact in a registration, including in fields locked at issue, may be raised with the Club through registry@reptileclub.com. Such requests are reviewed individually by the Club's editorial process. We may decline correction requests where there is reasonable doubt or where a correction would harm the integrity of the public record.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the records, photos, and other content you submit to HatchLog. By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, and display that content as necessary to operate the Service. Pedigree facts that you publish to the public Registry, including accepted parent links, hatch date, sex, morph or trait information accepted under Registry rules, producer attribution, and accepted lineage, are intended to be public and may continue to appear on the public Registry after you delete your account.

Photos. You may publish up to three photos to an animal's Certificate of Pedigree. Those photos become part of the public Registry record and remain public as described above. The photos in your HatchLog library that you do not publish stay private to you. You confirm that you own the photos and other content you submit, or that you have permission to use them and to grant the license above.

Copyright complaints. We respect copyright and respond to notices of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, our designated agent and the notice process are described in our Copyright Policy at reptileclub.com/dmca. We will, in appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, disable or terminate the account of any user who is a repeat infringer. Because a registration is a permanent public record, terminating an account does not by itself remove registrations already made, but infringing photos will be removed from those records.

Optional profile information you choose to share, such as your breeder location, may appear on The Reptile Club's public Registry surfaces alongside your breeder identity. Unlike the pedigree facts above, profile information is not part of the permanent registration. You may change or remove it at any time from your account page, and it ceases to appear on the Registry when removed.

Your public breeder page and the breeder directory. When you claim a breeder name, The Reptile Club creates a public breeder page for that breeder identity at a stable address on reptileclub.com. Your breeder name is recorded on the registrations you produce under it. When your breeder page is set to public, your breeder identity also appears in the browsable breeder directory at reptileclub.com/breeders, where it can be found without an RC code.

You control the visibility of your breeder page. You choose whether your breeder page is public or private when you claim your breeder name, and you may change that choice at any time in the HatchLog app or on your web account page. Setting your breeder page to private removes it from the breeder directory and from public view. You choose to publish your breeder page, and The Reptile Club operates a public record of pedigree provenance.

What a private setting does not change. Setting your breeder page to private removes the directory listing and the public page. It does not remove the registrations you have issued or the producer attribution recorded on them. A registration, once approved, is part of the public record of the Registry, and the breeder name recorded on it remains part of that registration as a matter of public record. Visibility of your breeder page and permanence of the registration record are two separate things.
